I also love nature! I find it inspiring and think that sunshine is the greatest medicine!

Hi, I’m Erin Lloyd, a Product Designer based in Murray, Utah, with experience spanning Fintech, Edtech, and Agency environments.
I am passionate about testing, experimentation, rapid iteration, and fostering collaboration across all levels of an organization.
I love to get outside and take a good long walk, listen to folk music, cook good food, take pictures of pretty trees, and eat way too many burritos. My tastes in film vary widely but if you like surreal and cerebral, we will be fast friends. (Inception, Mirror Mask, What Dreams May Come to name a few.)
Places where my design has had an impact:

No Designer roles here, but these places taught me a lot about working collaboratively, customer service, sales, and hitting our initiatives.

FAQs
Tell me about yourself and describe yourself in brief?
Growing up with scientist parents and a passion for drawing, I always knew I wanted to do something creative with a bit of logic behind it. After trying out illustration, graphic design, and UX, I found my groove in Product Design—a perfect mix of art and problem-solving. It lets me blend my love for storytelling and design with figuring out problems, talking to people, and making things that matter.
I’m obsessed with mind-bending shows like Squid Game and Severance, probably eat way too many burgers and burritos, and can’t resist snapping pics of the prettiest trees I find on hikes.
What’s something you are passionate about that you don’t get to do enough?
I’d love to get better at taking a product has lost its way and pull it up by the bootstraps, dust it off, and turn it around. Thus far in my career I’ve had the opportunity to develop net new products and make small improvements, but unfortunately once those products are launched, they either do well and hum along with small iterations or fade away collecting dust never to be heard of again, even through there are some great ideas and research backing them, however time, money and priority deem them not useful to the business. I’d love the opportunity to take a product that is important the the business but needs some love and move it from version one to version two.
What is one thing you’d like to learn or improve on?
I’d love to learn more about AI. As corny and maybe over hashed as it is, AI really is the future and I feel it has can be a great partner in helping to create some great products. Back in art school they taught us how old time graphic illustrations were painstakingly painted, beautifully shot set up, lit, and then shot with film, ready to be printed in the magazines. When photoshop first came out it was revolutionary that you didn’t have to hand cut out letters, you could just do it right on the computer screen. I feel like AI is now the next great jump in our craft. Interfaces and experiences that we’ve never dreamed about will need to be thought of as AI becoming more integrated into our lives.
What’s your process?
The Product Development Lifecycle is a collaborative process that relies on clear roles and responsibilities among Product Directors, Managers, Designers, and Marketers. While workflows may vary depending on team structure, having clarity on who is responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed (RACI framework) is essential. This approach fosters a balanced environment where team members feel empowered and autonomous, rather than treated as mere resources.
When working with existing products, I begin by analyzing performance data, both quantitative and qualitative. I review customer feedback, conduct interviews with sales teams, and engage with internal stakeholders to uncover pain points and gather insights. Finally, I explore competitor offerings for inspiration, ensuring the product stays competitive and aligned with user needs.
Next, I transition into sketching and developing low-fidelity concepts. After multiple iterations with internal teams and collaboration with subject matter experts, we prepare for testing. I prioritize early testing—not to validate the solution, but to evaluate whether we’re heading in the right direction.
We use a consistent set of questions and aim for at least five test sessions to ensure results are both measurable and comparable. Based on the insights gained, we make informed decisions to either move forward with higher-fidelity designs or revisit and refine our strategy as needed.
